Gardens of the World (Gärten der Welt) - a centre of international garden and landscaping artistry

Gardens of the World offers visitors an experience of impressive and diverse international garden artistry of various eras and regions, Middle Eastern, Chinese, Japanese, Balinese and European. All the world’s cultures regard the garden as a place of peace, beauty, prosperity and happiness. This shared aspect of global human culture is reflected in a wealth of different forms of gardens.

Gardens of the World’s 21-hectare site invites visitors to embark on a tour of the world’s gardens through its nine elaborately designed horticultural treasures. A tenth themed garden, the English Garden, will open in 2017 during the International Garten Exhibition Berlin (Internationale Gartenausstellung Berlin - IGA). During the IGA Gardens of the World will showcase various garden traditions and become a centre for contemporary international gardening and landscaping artistry for more than 186 days.

This special gardening experience is already a magnet for visitors, attracting more than 800,000 garden enthusiasts to the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district in 2014. Visitor numbers are forecast to grow to up to 1.2 million, so the Gardens of the World infrastructure will be adapted to its growing numbers of visitors and a visitors’ centre with catering facilities will be built.
